Petter Carlsen
Petter Carlsen is a singer and music maker from Alta, Finnmark, Norway. He debuted with the EP A Taste of What's to Come in 2006. His debut album You Go Bird was released in August 2009, which entered the charts at #14. The music is atmospheric and melodic. His second album Clocks Don't Count was released 31 January 2011 on his own label. It is loaded with contrasts and dynamics. It has been awarded with great reviews all over Norway, and it is produced by Christer Andre Cederberg. Anathema's singer Vincent Cavanagh contributes on the song Built to Last, and singer-songwriter Unni Wilhelmsen from Norway sings with Petter on Table for One.
"He wasn’t very well known before Anathema took him on tour with them in Europe as their opening singer. He was born in Norway, in 1979 and he’s really an ordinary guy: a sparse beard, a clumsy smile, sweet eyes and wool hat. Nobody would think that he’s able to grab anyone’s attention, but this is what he does. He takes his instrument and sing. The rest is history. When Petter is on stage any other sound disappears to let his voice and his chords fill the empty space around. His music is all about the inside: it is a deep dive into his own soul following a fascinating melody. If his first record, You Go Bird was a knife that scratched out the surface of our hearts, his last release Clocks Don’t Count is a dagger that stabs us in our innermost self. A poetic melancholy that permeates the Nordic atmosphere of the record." - mayjaymagazine.com

”once I heard Petter Carlsen's incredible voice and beautiful songwriting, as well as his warm personality, I always felt that he would be connected to and part of the inner circle of Anathema for a long time to come. Quite apart from being a great friend, he is one of the most talented musicians I have ever met in my life.”
